What do you do when you’re in a hum drum mood?
Apparently blog. I haven’t done it in a while because I wanted my next post to
be my trip to Germany. But if that just isn’t the thing I want to do least in
the world right now, I don’t know what is. So I made a little list of things I
would rather talk about. But then I realized that all those things would
require their own post. Which I am also too lazy to do. So it’s just gonna be a
quick update. Believe it or not I was told by somebody I better post soon, or
else. I’m not lying, she needs me to blog about nonsense.
So what am I doing if not blogging? My life has been full of Olympics Olympics Olympics. Which would elicit a loud “duh” for anyone who actually reads this thing, or is friends with me on facebook. To make it clear just how absorbed I am: I have my sister DVR the Today Show occasionally so I can watch later, I pick up USA Today every time I see it and grab just the Olympic section out (I apparently still have all the inserts from the last Olympics in my school closet I never get into anymore), I have the NBC app and would check latest news and updates during my conference last week (more on that later), and of course watch every night on NBC from 7-11pm. I wasn’t kidding when I said I loved it. I am supremely upset that swimming is done already. And also that there are only 6 days left. Why oh why can’t they just last forever?
This conference I spoke of was not one I would have gone to if I had been given a choice. It was for work, and I was paid to go. And they fed us lunch and 2 snacks. And it was a shorter commute than regular work. AND, I got 45 continuing education credits for going (you have to get a total of 75 over 5 years as a RD). Sounds good? In theory, yes. The biggest problem I had with the class, was that is was 45 hours long (1 week) and was all about breastfeeding. YES! Breastfeeding. Good info for my job, but just so many pictures and videos and lectures about breastfeeding. Who knew that much went into it? In fact, a lovely Eastern European lady that checked me out during lunch break at the gas station was baffled when I said that the class was to help women who had troubles breastfeeding. She couldn’t fathom that anyone would need help doing it. Well, sister, welcome to America!
Anyway, that’s about all I have energy for. So until next time, watch Olympics and breastfeed! They aren’t mutually exclusive. (PS, this isn't the last post on Olympics. I threw an all out party for the Opening Ceremonies)
